We’ve all made a workout pact with a friend for added accountability (and some fun), but it turns out that making time for social exercise could have big benefits for brain health—especially as we get older. Early research suggests that two of the major factors for dementia include inactivity and low social participation, both of which can be remedied by calling up a friend to go hit the gym (the track, the trail, and more).

Enjoy this throwback interview with longtime Canadian skateboarder Spencer Hamilton. Hamilton, a legend in his own right, looks to Ottawa skateboarders like Joe Buffalo and Tony Ferguson for regular inspiration when needed. And when it comes to stayed hydrated and energized, he likes to drink his coffee in the morning but switches to Wize in the afternoon to avoid jitters or crashes.
See
Photographer Edward Burtynsky brings us a stunning collection of photographs that he calls African Studies: a look at the ways in which people leave their mark on Sub-Saharan landscapes. From the tiny walking routes through awe-inspiring canyons to the mountains of trash we leave behind.
