How did you discover your talent? What got you started?

I started skateboarding when I was pretty young… maybe like 10 years old. And that made me really want to try snowboarding. And then when I finally did get to try snowboarding, it came to me a lot easier than skateboarding did, even though I will always love both about the same.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I used to change my mind all the time. I knew I wanted to be some sort of athlete. I thought maybe I'd be in the circus or a hockey player or something. And I also really liked art. I wanted to be a tattoo artist for a long time too.

Who was your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration was probably my first coach because he was so funny and just made everything into a joke. He was also a crazy good snowboarder and never took anything too seriously. I definitely look up to that.

What makes you keep innovating and pushing your skills to new heights? What’s the intrinsic driver or motivation?

I think I have always thought that the better I am, the more fun I can be having. It’s also really nice to do at least one thing a day that scares you. So the two go hand in hand I guess. I would love to just pull up to a feature and have a huge bag of tricks I can choose from. I want to just feel like an artist with so many different paint brushes when I ride.

So far, what has been your favourite highlight of your career? An achievement? A specific moment?

I always seem to look back on the sessions where I am working really hard to get one trick. When I don’t want to hike up one more time, but then I do anyways and it pays off. I would say those are the best days snowboarding and I would like to have more of them.

In regards to your career, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?

That’s a hard question, I think even just a few years ago my answer would be very different from now. I don’t know if I could even imagine myself that far from now… could be doing anything really. I guess 10 years from now I just want boarding to be a big part of my life still, could be in any type of way.

In terms of healthy habits, what are your thoughts on the current beverage options out there?  (I.e. Energy Drinks, high sugar drinks etc)

It’s not that easy to find a decent drink out there. There’s a lot of caffeine in basically everything now and so much sugar or artificial sweetener. Sometimes I just want something to sip on that’s not water, but I can’t really justify drinking a can of soda. It can be really hard to find a nice in between.

How does Wize fit into your current lifestyle? And why do you choose Wize?

I love Wize because I don’t feel guilty or gross after I drink one... or even two. I think it’s super cool how it’s made out of coffee leaves instead of tea leaves as well.

What are the next projects coming down the pipeline?

Unfortunately this year is basically over now, but for next season I would like to do a bit more street snowboarding and big mountain riding. Just because I’ve kind of always ridden the park I would love to try out some of the other avenues of snowboarding.

What’s your favourite flavour of Wize tea? When do you typically drink it?

My favourite flavour is hint of lemon. My favourite time to drink it is right after riding when I like to have a little relax session.
