Comox, BC
How did you discover your talent? What got you started?
I used to play hockey and ride motocross and at the time I did not like to ski but then got very interested in cameras and filming so I would wake up at 5 before school and watch GoPro videos and a lot of it was about skiing and the life style and all of the sick people that were in the sport so I started to try skiing 4 years ago and have loved it ever since!
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid I played a lot of hockey and scootered both equally and almost got on the razor scooter team so that was the dream before skiing!
Who was your biggest inspiration?
When I first started skiing the biggest inspiration was Jesper Tjäder for a long time but mostly it was the only skier I knew. For the past 3 years it’s been Evan Mceachran, Matej Svancer, Jackson Karsteter and quite a few more the main has always been Evan Mceachran got to meet him a few years back and he was such a nice guy we hung out all the time while he was in whistler and skated with me and we still talk to this day!
What makes you keep innovating and pushing your skills to new heights? What’s the intrinsic driver or motivation?
Mostly just the feeling of being terrified to try something then landing that trick the relief and adrenaline you get is like no other and just to be able to Cruz and freely and just stomp the new tricks you have learned and look back over the clips from the day and just been so stoked you finally did it and how sick it looks!
So far, what has been your favourite highlight of your career? An achievement? A specific moment?
When people notice your progression and it hypes you up to wanna try so much more!
Another would be moving away and getting the chance to ski in whistler for the season was just such a big step up!
In regards to your career, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?
To be riding at my top ability as well competing at a very high level. Also traveling to ski all around the world and inspiring people!
In terms of healthy habits, what are your thoughts on the current beverage options out there? (I.e. Energy Drinks, high sugar drinks etc)
All other caffeinated drinks are so sweet. They leave a taste in your mouth that doesn’t taste good. It gives you a sugar rush that once the sugar rush crashes you just feel dead tired and usually not feeling the best. And there are so many strange flavors that you don’t really know what you’re getting because they are all crazy made up names.
How does Wize fit into your current lifestyle? And why do you choose Wize?
Wize has such a sick design on the drink that gets your attention right away. They support good causes and help little riders get known and make healthy choices that won’t make them feel not great after having some of the other energy drink companies. Wize has such a cool background story they show you how it’s made and that the products are made with care. They support all of my interest in sports, traveling and mostly healthy choices!
What are the next projects coming down the pipeline?
I had a big project last year which took a whole year to film and put together it was a ski and surf film that took a lot of work a lot of people don’t understand how much work goes into every single clip from freezing up on rock filming surfing and switch out with your friends to camera batteries dying to people not making it to film and just the expenses of it all! My next project idea is maybe a behind the scenes of these films that we have put out or the other idea is a surf skate old vintage film but it’s very hard now with covid we had plans to go to Portugal, Maui, California and Oregon and film it all but it’s a lot harder to do so now and especially being so young.
What’s your favourite flavour of Wize tea? When do you typically drink it?
I LOVE ALL OF THEM BUT I WOULD SAY MANGO!
