How did you discover your talent? What got you started?

I’ve always kind of had bikes in my life. At a young age my parents would have to drag me out of the house to go ride my bike. I was really into team sports when I was younger and it wasn’t till I was about 10 that I started to like riding. After that it became my total and utter obsession. I can’t imagine my life without bikes now.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was much younger I wanted to be a professional ski racer. Then around the age of nine I wanted to become a lacrosse player and I was obsessed with that and did quite well in it for around two years. That all changed when I turned 11 and I got to go ride the Whistler bike park. I’ve always kind of loved riding but the passion truly grew that day and ever since that day nothing else but riding my bike fast down a hill has mattered.

Who was your biggest inspiration?

Fin Iles has always been one of my mentors ever since day one. I see quite a few similarities between us and my goal is to follow in his footsteps. I’m lucky enough to ride Provost which is the main downhill riding spot for a majority of the pros during the winter. It’s been an honour learning from him over this winter and I can’t wait for the season to start!

What makes you keep innovating and pushing your skills to new heights? What’s the intrinsic driver or motivation?

My goal is to do what I love as a career. That’s what gets me up in the morning, pushes me to go faster and work harder in the gym. I love riding and that’s what I want to do for the rest of my life.

If you could meet an idol or figure of any era, who would it be? What would you ask them?

I would love to meet Stevie Smith. Smith is a legend around where I ride. He passed away in 2016 but his legacy still lives at Provost. Some say he’s the best Canadian downhiller to ever live. I would love to ask him about what it takes to get to that next level and learn from him on Provost.

So far, what has been your favourite highlight of your career? An achievement? A specific moment?

I don’t know if I can pinpoint anything so far it is really only beginning. I can list a few though being picked up by Rocky Mountain 2020 season was definitely one of the highlights they’ve helped me so much. I couldn’t be doing what I do without the best equipment.

In regards to your career, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?

I would like to be riding world cups and be on a factory downhill team.

In terms of healthy habit, what are your thoughts on the current beverage options out there? (I.e. Energy Drinks, high caffeine, high sugar drinks)

I feel that other energy drinks which have crazy levels of caffeine as well as sugar. Are in no way at all how they are marketed. When you are doing an extreme sport the last thing you want to have are the jitters from caffeine and a sugar crash. I like the way that Wize is a healthier option and still gets you through the day. Without all the negative drawbacks other energy drinks have.

How does Wize fit into your current lifestyle? And why do you choose Wize?

I usually have a Wize at the beginning of each day. It wakes me up and powers me through the day. It keeps me motivated and aware in a healthy way.

What are the next projects coming down the pipeline?

I will be working on some video projects with a number of my sponsors in the coming months. I am super excited to get that on its way and I’m hoping racing happens this year with the pandemic going on.

What’s your favourite flavour of Wize tea? When do you typically drink it?

Personally I love the mango flavour, it’s super refreshing on a hot day and has a nice edge of sour to it.
