What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Jayden Bloom and I’m a Certified Personal Trainer and Online Fitness Coach based out of Vancouver, BC. I was a trainer at Equinox for 16 months and now own and operate my own fitness coaching business called Bloom Fitness where I help clients in person as well as online to reach their fitness goals.
What made you want to get into fitness and become a trainer?
My passion for fitness began roughly around 10 years ago. Growing up I was a highly active individual and had a strong passion for sports. I started playing rugby at age 15 and instantly fell in love with the game. I knew that if I truly wanted to excel in the sport, I had to put on some muscle mass as I was always a skinny kid growing up. My dad was heavily into fitness at the time, so I started going to the gym with him and instantly fell in love with it. Once I started noticing results, I got hooked. I went on to represent BC for rugby throughout high school and I credit that entirely to the gym. What influenced me to become a trainer was seeing how I was able to transform my body through fitness and realizing that I could help people do the same. As I mentioned before, I was always a super skinny kid growing up and I didn’t have much confidence if at all. The gym really helped me in that regard, and honestly changed my life. My mission now is to help individuals do the same and to also show them how simple and easy it is to actually incorporate fitness into their lifestyle. I’ve helped over 50 individuals transform their lives through fitness and I can honestly say I love what I do.
What’s your true motivation? Who or what keeps you inspired?
Motivation is something I talk a lot about as it is the main driver in accomplishing your goals. The thing with motivation is it comes and goes. You will have good days and high motivation, and you will have bad days with low motivation. For me, when I find I’m struggling with my motivation, I always go back to my why. If you can answer that question when times get tough, then you’ll be able to keep on going. Consistency is everything in life and if you can just stay consistent and not quit when times get tough then you will always accomplish whatever goal you set out for yourself. In terms of what keeps me inspired, looking back to where I started always keeps me inspired. Often with my clients we’ll take monthly progress pics to show them how far they’ve actually come. Sometimes you forget where you started from, and if you can keep looking back to then and compare that to where you are now, you’ll constantly stay inspired.
Define your idea of ‘being wize’ or ‘having wizdom’ in the modern world?
My idea of being wize or having wizdom in the world is to go through life with experiences, and the only way to do this is to experience failure. It is often said that the older population are some of the wisest. This is because they’ve gone through life with an abundance of different experiences. So in my opinion, being wize to me means taking risks and living life outside of your comfort zone. If you can do this then you will quickly learn from your mistakes and truly live the life you’ve always dreamt of living.
What are your thoughts on the current beverage industry? (I.e. Energy drinks, High caffeinated, HIgh Sugar…)
I think the current beverage industry is destroying lives. Most beverages out there contain an insane amount of added sugars, even beverages that are labeled healthy such as fruit juices and what not. What people don’t understand is that companies like Tropicana are actually owned by Pepsi, and Coca Cola owns Vitamin Water. So that alone raises the question to how healthy can products by Tropicana and Vitamin Water really be when we know that Pepsi and Coca Cola don’t care about the health and wellbeing of their consumers? As a fitness trainer, sugar is my #1 enemy. Sugar is linked to the development of obesity, as it is often stored as fat when it can’t be used for energy. That’s why I discuss the importance of a low sugar diet with all of my clients, and what they can substitute sugar with.
How does Wize fit into your current lifestyle?
Wize is the definition of the lifestyle I live and the lifestyle I create for my clients. I’m constantly trying to take unhealthy food items and transform them into healthy meals I can eat daily. So adding Wize to my diet was perfect and fit my lifestyle completely. Wize is all about providing you with a healthy, low calorie, low sugar Iced Tea alternative. Not only does Wize Iced Tea taste amazing but I could drink 10 a day knowing that I am not throwing my diet out of the window.
